Former Furukawa garden

Will it be the start of the rainy season or not? I was swearing at the changeable weather, but we had a rare sunny day on the weekend, so I decided to go out for a walk to take some pictures.

It just so happened that at the same time, I heard a rumor that there were still quite a few roses to be seen at the Former Furukawa Garden. I had not visited there for a long time because the park had been closed due to the Corona disaster, so I had to go there for the first time in a while.

So, I decided to pay a visit. The Tokyo Metropolitan Former Furukawa Garden is located in Kita-ku, Tokyo. The garden we are looking for was created in the Taisho era (1912-1926), and was designed by Jihei Ogawa, a famous landscape gardener.

It takes only a few minutes on foot from JR Kaminakazato Station, up a rather steep slope.

This beautiful Western-style building is a symbol of the garden. The dark color of the masonry exterior wall shines against the blue sky.

The rose garden in front of the Western-style house is not very large, but it is more convenient for an old man with a camera who wants to take pictures of flowers efficiently.

I think this purple rose was the most vigorous rose in the rose garden that day. When you get closer, you can see the shape of the rose. It has elegance.

When I come here, I can’t help but want to intertwine the roses and the Western-style house. I took some shots.

I immersed myself some minutes in taking pictures, switching lenses this way and that.

Not a rose, but this one is also so beautiful.

After taking a bunch of pictures of the flowers around the Western-style building, I took a walk in the Japanese garden. Although I did not take many pictures there this time, I would post some of them.

If I had to choose one, it would be this, which was taken with a blue maple tree in mind.

I remember that I had no choice but to take this picture because I did not expect the shadows to hake out in the crowded garden that day, although a few female guests in the back were in the picture, which was not appreciated in making it.

Another one is not even a picture of the Japanese garden. I took it because I felt the sun shining through the trees on the bench, where the leaves had fallen due to the strong rain the day before, was so beautiful.

Finally, back again in front of the Western-style building.
A wind ensemble was scheduled to perform that day, and the sounds of rehearsal echoed pleasantly throughout the park.

It’s been about three years since I last visited the Former Furukawa Garden.
Thanks.
