Roppongi, Azabu-Juban town walk

After seeing a photo exhibition at Tokyo Midtown, I walked to Azabu Juban on a whim and took some street snapshots with my FUJIFILM XF10.

This summer has been unusually hot or unusually bad weather, so I have been able to take fewer pictures than usual. The days are precious when I happen to be out with my camera, in order to get my blog page filler.

Roppongi has no shortage of stores with elaborate designs, but there are few that I would want to photograph during the day, let alone at night. Among them, this one is rather nice.

I took this photo because the bronze statue caught my eye, then after looking at the photo I remembered that I had taken a photo here once before.

Small Japanese style bistro, I guess.

I felt at the time that it looked strangely secluded through the leaves of a sycamore (I think), doubling its charm. I wish I could walk here at night.

I think the dirtiness of the street corner is better conveyed in rough black and white than in color.

A middle-aged (excuse me!) jogging couple seemed out of place and nicely fitted in at the same time.

In contrast, completely neat place is a corner of Roppongi Hills and Keyakizaka street.

It was dark for a moment when it scratched and darkened, and I thought it would be a good shutter opportunity to add a touch of elegance when the lights came on. But in vain I didn’t make it that far and struck out (wry smile).

XF10 has a strong vignetting effect in shooting on RAW mode. Then I have decided to leave some of the photos as they are without correction, and I have realized once again that it is not so bad to have darker edges.

Even on the concrete streets of Roppongi & Juban, small flowers are blooming.

I had hoped for a light rain and some drops from the flowers, but this did not get us there either. First of all, if I had thought about it, I would not have been able to take pictures with the XF10 if it rained that much.

For better or worse, the sky was unstable that day. It suddenly cleared up and became hot by the time I walked around Azabu-juban area.

Patio Juban, famous for the statue of “Kimi-chan”.

The open-air speakeasy is located by thr patio. It appears to be open as a lunch-box shop at this time of day.

Probably a photo studio that must have been around for a long time in Juban. It looks very nice.

Judging by the board sign, I would guess that Mr. or Ms. Matsuo of the photo studio is the owner of the building. I hope he/she will take their time and continue to do business locally.

It was just around noon and the sun was shining more strongly. I was on the verge of becoming a lunch refugee and almost suffering from dehydration and heat stroke, but I was saved by slipping in during lunch time at a nice air-conditioned restaurant. I’ll tell you where and how it was someday.

I have been writing a long and rambling article and taking a lot of pictures. Thank you very much for your patience to see it through to the end.
