Red spider lily again

Just a little out of season due to the order of publication, but here is the second installment this year of my “red spider lily walk.”

I went to Hozoin temple in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, along the Shin-nakagawa river.

I had heard in some places that this temple was famous for red spider lily, but I was unfamiliar with the area, so I visited there once in early September for location scouting, which was an unusually careful visit for me. It took me about 15 minutes to get there from Koiwa Station on the Sobu Line, in the occasional light rain.

Today was the real debut of my new HD DA*16-50mm. I was a little excited because it is drip-proof and can handle light rain.

The red flower that I was looking for were in full bloom in the precincts of the temple.

I doubt there are few temples in Tokyo that have such magnificent red blooms as this. When I see them blooming in such a serene atmosphere, I am tempted to call them “Manjusaka (Buddhism oriented name)” which I don’t usually use, but I would like to call them so with a bit of pretension.

There are some white Manjusaka here and there.

If you step back for a moment and take an objective shot, this is what the grounds look like.

It seems that as long as you keep your manners and do not enter the rope enclosure, you are free to take pictures. I did not want to use a monopod or tripod, but perhaps they will allow it.

There are so many Manjusaka all over the place, you can cut them out from anywhere.

However, when I look at the photos I was able to take, sadly, they are all of the same craft , and I am painfully aware of my lack of ability to draw out the best from them.

Well, that’s OK, I’ll just put them here for now, because I can’t help what I’ve taken.

So, it was a day on the far side of the equinox when I enjoyed the Manjusaka, res spider lily, while lamenting my lack of ability.

Speaking of my debut HD DA*16-50mm, you may say “You start from there?”,  AF accuracy is amazing for me. The finished photos are also nothing short of perfection.

Equipment used: K-3III, HD DA*16-50mm
