I have acquired a new L-mount single focal length lens for my Lumix S5.
It is a 50mm F2 in the SIGMA i-series. Here is the official website of the manufacturer.
I have not been able to use the S5 well, but it’s still very nice when I take it out and use it once in a while. The lightness and sharpness of the Lumix S20-60mm standard zoom and the Lumix S14-28mm wide-angle zoom are really nice, and the Sigma i-series 90mm lens, which I added to supplement the telephoto side, is even better. Not only is it light and small, but it is also perfect in terms of sharpness and bokeh, and it produces pictures that are as one would expect from a single focal length lens. Thanks to this lens, my confidence in the i-series has increased, so I thought it would not be a bad idea to strengthen the standard single focal lengths along this line.
Attached to the LUMIX S5 is the 50mm lens I acquired this time, and lined up on the left is the 90mm lens from the same i-series.
Both are lightweight and compact enough, and the classic looks and fine quality of the machined metal exteriors will get you excited. However, the knurled metal hood looks cool, but it is difficult to carry because it might damage things around it, which might be a bit too much. I don’t usually use the 90mm hood, but I have a cheap third-party rubber hood attached to it.
Since I don’t have a lot of money to purchase lenses, I had to be a little creative in my purchase. Fortunately, SIGMA lens products and mail-order coupons are designated as returns for “hometown tax” by Bandai-cho, Fukushima Prefecture, where the company is headquartered, so I used them to the extent possible. If this will help the town at the foot of Mt. Bandai, where I visit every year, by paying even a small amount of tax, that’s very much appreciated.
Even I am aware of it, so there is no way that camera/lens freaks will leave it alone. I also suspect that SIGMA has a certain amount of sales volume related to Bandai-cho.
Well, I’d like to go out and take pictures right away, but for the time being, I can’t make a schedule for my S5 to go out due to bad luck. I don’t know what to do…
