What to do with Exif?

As a photography blogger, I feel that I should disclose information about the equipment I use and the settings under which I take my photographs, even if they are at such a poor level. However, I am having a hard time doing so.

Let me tell you how I have done it in the past…

When I was embedding photos uploaded to <Flickr and SmugMug, these sites themselves had the ability to disclose photo information, and third parties provided scripts to attach and display settings information when pasting them into blogs. Those were very good times.

But now, as the cost of running these specialized sites is getting heavier, we are in the process of moving more of our image file storage space. This new environment will not disclose the shooting information of new articles at this time.

I have not done so, or rather, I have not found a way to make it possible. We have tried a few things.

It seems that there are some plug-ins that allow you to put an image file directly in the WordPress media library and retrieve any exif information and make it available. However, they are not applicable when the main body file is placed outside, as is the case with our blog.

Can’t you create a batch file using exiftool and make a text file with the same name as the image file and insert it into the article together with the necessary items? I have tried various things, but to my amateurish sorrow, either I had a bad idea, or I lacked skill, or both, I could not get anywhere with.

In the end, I decided to make do with the following article editing routine for the time being.

– In each article, I will not disclose information on individual settings due to workload constraints. In each article, the names of the cameras and lenses used are only given in abbreviated form at the end of the article text.
For photos posted as Gallery /Lens, the file names are renamed to include basic setting information.

Note that when renaming, we used a tool called Exif Renamer. tool. Thanks!

As for the Gallery /Scene, it is difficult to accurately export the lens names from the exif data in my environment, so I manually added the camera and lens names used to the posted file names.

I understand my countermeasure is quite primitive. Then, I wonder how all the photo bloggers in the world are solving this problem….
It is a challenge that seems to be as difficult as taking pictures.
