Tadami line photo walk -7: Yanaizu, Kawaguchi etc.

In this last installment of “A man who takes pics of the Tadami Line for only 3 days”, you have already seen most of the topics in the previous posts, but this last one is a miscellaneous note.

There are many photogenic unmanned stations on the Tadami Line, and one of them is Hayato Station, where the Tadami River is close at hand.

I think it would be even nicer if I could get a bird’s eye view of this station and the river from the highway behind it, but unfortunately there is no space to stand safely.

Just a short walk from Hayato Station is the “Mist Ferry” landing, which was featured in the movie. It was unmanned at this time.

This is the moss-covered precincts of Enzo-ji Temple in the town of Yanaizu. The slight sunlight was impressive.

The town of Yanaizu as seen from the main hall of its Enzoji temple. The flow of the Tadami River and the red bridge are impressive.

This temple is quite a sight in itself, perched on top of a cliff. It is said that the cherry blossom and autumnal foliage seasons are especially good, but we’ll save that for another time.

However, the climb up the approach to the main temple on the cliff is quite demanding. I cheated and came down from the back parking lot in the opposite direction.

My intention is to introduce a few more photos, but there are quite a few.

Next is Aizu Yanaizu Station. It is also unmanned station, but quite a magnificent building. Local volunteers wearing happi coats are gathering at the station to welcome visitors and wave to train passengers.

Aizu Kawaguchi Station is another scenic station with the Tadami River looming right next to the platform (I like this kind of ghost light of camera).

I felt bad about just taking pictures of the Tadami Line, so I took a round trip ride between Aizu-Yanagitsu and Aizu-Kawaguchi, which takes about an hour each way. It seemed that the reopening of the line had attracted a lot of wacky passengers like me, and it was as crowded as the Yamanote Line in Tokyo both ways. The high school students commuting to school looked a bit annoyed, forgive us.

So, although I was only there for 3 days, I was able to take enough photos for 7 blog posts. The last photo of 3 days is of the Hana Hotel Takinoya in Yanaizu Onsen, where we stayed for 2 nights.

It was a clean, safe, and reasonably priced hot spring resort, and a good place to stay that will firmly capture the heart of a novice photographer. Next time, I would like to come here with a little more time to spare, and go as far as Tadami and Koide, beyond the Aizu Kawaguchi area.

Well, thank you very much for your patience with this long article.
