#022 Hiroo Furukawa

The 22nd view of the 100 Famous Places in Edo by Utagawa Hiroshige is “Hiroo Furukawa”.

I had to pass by the neighborhood, so I suddenly jumped this time to the 22nd view.

Even so, when we come to the suburbs of Edo instead of the city central, the pictures by Hiroshige become instantly scenic and beautiful. The view of the area is thought to be from the Shinohashi Bridge over the Furukawa River, so it would look like this in the present day.

First and foremost, the modern Furukawa is covered by the Metropolitan Expressway and has no sky (lol). I saw that the riverbank is being developed to make it a little friendlier with a promenade, but I was disappointed to find that many sections are currently under construction, which are not very photogenic. Although the scenery is not very scenic, I tried to find a composition that would allow me to see as much of the river as possible and include as much green as possible in the angle of view.

Across the old river is the Shirogane plateau on the left and the Azabu plateau on the right, and if you continue upstream, the name of the river changes toAround h the Shibuya River and you end up in Shibuya. It is hard to believe that it is/was the same place if you don’t know.

Around here today, express way underpass in Furukawabashi area, it is interesting to see the variety of shops such as old-fashioned fixture shops and construction companies, flower shops, fashionable general stores, and modern-style coworking spaces. Let’s put a photo of a horizontal composition for thumbnails.

Now, which of the 100 views shall we visit next?
