This year’s summer vacation was going smoothly until I visited the herb garden mentioned in my previous article and stayed at a hotel for the night. However, things took a sudden turn for the worse.
First, the weather changed drastically and it started raining heavily. To make matters worse, I accidentally hurt my back during the trip and was unable to take many photos. Ugh.
So, this time, I’ll share a few photos from the limited ones I managed to take, in no particular order, just to give you a taste of the trip.
A beautiful view of Mt. Bandai captured during a rare sunny spell.
Even though it looks this beautiful, you can’t just say, “I took this last year, so I’ll skip this year.” The same photos taken from the same angle and composition accumulate year after year, but that’s okay.
The big difference from previous years is that these warnings were posted throughout almost the entire Ura-Bandai area. Even on ordinary hiking trails, walking in the forest is now dangerous.
This year, I refrained from enjoying activities that I usually never miss, such as hiking at Goshikinuma ponds and early morning forest walks. To be honest, my physical condition wasn’t good enough to do those things.
This is the only photo I managed to take this year that captures the essence of summer around there, taken from near the entrance of the tourist shop at the entrance to Bishamon Marsh.
By the way, this was my first time staying at the Auberge “Il Legaro.” The food and accommodations were both excellent.

The inn was comfortable, but it started raining the next morning, so I took this photo while contemplating what to do today, gazing out the stylish window.
Even in the rain, the joy of eating is not diminished, so I decided to visit this restaurant in Sohara Lake.

In addition to the unchanging deliciousness, it seems like the menu has been evolving year by year. The only downside is that it’s become so crowded due to its growing popularity.
And here’s my ace in the hole for rainy days. The Morohashi Museum of Modern Art always delights visitors with its ingenious special exhibitions.
Not only are the exhibits inside the museum impressive, but the view outside is also breathtaking.
The pond was filled with pure white water lilies in full bloom, creating an indescribably elegant beauty.
Finally, a panoramic view of the museum.
I was troubled by rain that seemed to weaken but then suddenly became heavy, but thanks to that rain, I was able to thoroughly enjoy my summer vacation in the already cool Urabandai. There were even a few moments when it felt a little chilly.
So, although not everything went smoothly, it was a fruitful trip to Inawashiro and Ura-Bandai this year.
Thank you for reading to the end.
