Longboard Island Lager

With this kind of heat wave, even if you love photography and enjoy taking pictures, it becomes difficult to casually grab your camera and head out. When the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, it feels like a life-threatening situation could arise, no joke.

Just as I was thinking that I was running out of ideas for my blog, I found an event advertisement somewhere in my living room.It was for “Hiroo Hawaiian Days” at Hiroo Plaza in Minato Ward, central Tokyo. Basically, it was a Hawaiian product fair.

It was a place and event title that didn’t really suit me, but I found something I wanted to buy, so I decided to go. Since the destination was an air-conditioned mall, I didn’t have to worry about getting sunburned, and I thought I could take some photos for my blog with my LUMIX GF10.

Here’s what it looked like when I arrived.

On the 1st and 2nd floors of the mall in front of Hiroo Station, there are tent booths selling imported goods, cosmetics, accessories, apparel, and more. There’s also a small stage where several hula dance groups are performing. The main tenant, the high-end grocery store Meijiya Store, has a special display of Hawaiian beverages and foods at the entrance, creating a unique promotional setup. I see.

Hawaiian goods seem to be irresistible to the ladies of Hiroo.

I thought this was definitely a high-end Minato Ward event, with Hawaiian Airlines and JTB heavily involved, creating an atmosphere where you could book a trip on the spot. Are you staying at the Royal Hawaiian or the Halekulani? Oh, you have a vacation home and just need the air ticket? I see! It really feels like “Hawaii is right here.”

With the yen so weak, it’s not easy to afford, but I really want to go to Hawaii too!

As for why I went out of my way to attend such an unrelated event,
it was because I saw these Oahu Kona Beer products in a flyer from Meijiya Store and suddenly felt an overwhelming desire to try them.

I wonder how many years ago that was. Sipping Longboard Island Lager on the hotel lanai while gazing down at Kaimana Beach and feeling the breeze was truly unforgettable. Maybe it’s the heat, but I suddenly got an overwhelming urge to drink it again.

It’s a product that’s fairly well-stocked at import food stores and online retailers, so it’s not hard to get hold of. But if I know it’s there and I want it today, I just have to go buy it!

By the way, all of these beers were enjoyed by the staff afterward.
