In late January, Panasonic and Sigma released several new versions of firmware for L-mount camera bodies and lenses.
I thought to myself that I’d been neglecting my equipment for a while, so I checked it all over again, and I found lenses that I’d forgotten to update, as well as lenses that I’d bought second-hand without realizing that I’d forgotten to update them. OMG.
So in the end, I ended up having to update all this equipment.
In addition to the two bodies, there are a total of eight lenses: the Panasonic 24-105 zoom and three Sigma prime lenses for the L-mount, and two Panasonic-Leica lenses for the m4/3 mount.
I downloaded each of the firmware files from the official website, copied each file to the root directory of the SD card, and then repeated the update process by inserting the card into the camera with the target lens attached. For someone as lazy as me, this is quite a lot of work.
I only found out after doing it all at once, but the important thing at this time is that
Place the only one file you are updating in the root of the SD card
If you are lazy and try to do a batch update by leaving several files in place while changing the lens, the camera will give you a hard time like this. Oh dear.
“Can’t find it!” Look, the file is definitely on the route, so take a good look. It’s a waste of time to swear at the camera like that, and it won’t make any progress at all. Some file names are hard to tell which lens they are for, so if you’re not careful you might use a file that’s different from the one you attached, and in that case you’ll naturally get an ‘Can’t find it!’
Oh, I’m not good at steady, careful work!
But there’s no choice but to go through it one by one.
In the end, it probably took about 20-30 minutes. The work was completed somehow.
If the functionality improves, there is no way to avoid it. This time, in particular, the update of the G9PROII body added “train” to the automatic recognition of AF, which is something I was really looking forward to.

But I still don’t like the hassle. At the very least, I need to keep up with the update information and try to keep the size of the summary work like this as small as possible.
