On the way back from visiting the Hebikubo Shrine, as I was approaching Shinagawa Station on the train, I thought I saw something unusual out of the corner of my eye.
Could it be…?
Looking out of the train window on the west side through the gaps between the passengers, it seemed that I had not been mistaken. It was the magnificent sight of the Train Suite Shiki-shima, which I don’t often get to see.

It was slowly decelerating as it ran alongside the Yokosuka Line that I was on across several tracks, and was about to pull into Shinagawa Station.
This is my chance!
Well, I didn’t have any other pressing business, but if I could take a photo of the Shiki-shima, surely that would be a priority over anything else. Without hesitation, I got off at Shinagawa Station and headed for the platform where the train was due to arrive.
However, you can’t underestimate the clever technology used by JR to manage their rolling stock and station facilities. Naturally, the platform I was aiming for was under “No Entry” measures. At least I hoped I could see a little of the Shiki-shima through the restricted rope.
No, I’m sorry. This is not a photo that I took with the aim of creating a special effect, but simply a failed photo. A complete disaster.
No matter how much my heart was racing, I don’t even know how I could have taken such a terrible photo. However, this is the only photo I could take.
That’s right, I could take a profile photo from the next platform!
I tried to go around to the next platform, but the enemy is also a clever one, and JR cleverly blocked my view by parking long-distance trains on both sides.
I’m really sorry. The picture is out of focus and the camera shake is terrible, so it’s a total disaster. But this is the only picture I could take.
A real train enthusiast would never make a mistake like this. Even though the GF10 with darl lens doesn’t fit such a situation, the pictures are all so bad that I feel really disgusted with myself.
I gave up and left the area, but a few minutes later, one of my friend found the obstacle train started to move, so he went back to the next platform again. When the obstructive Joban Line train left, he said, the Shiki-shima had already disappeared.
But I know, the Shiki-shima was definitely there.
