Leica Monochrome in Shibaura Bay -2

Continuing my black-and-white photography walk around Shibaura, Tokyo, with the LUMIX G9PROII in hand.
I’m using Adobe’s DCP file “Leica Monochrome” to process the RAW photos I’ve taken in PhotoLab.

I found the jumble of things under the Rainbow Bridge, the elevated Yurikamome line and the conveyor belts of the nearby cement factory to be a little interesting.

A boat moored near the water gate on the bay and a corner that looks like a maintenance base. I thought this would also be fun to mess around with.

The Metropolitan Expressway and the Tokyo Monorail. I’m not sure if it’s very artistic to just take pictures of the elevated tracks from below… but I like that kind of picture.

The canal and the tetrapods. The light on the water and the brightness of the sun shining through the bushes on the opposite bank somehow give it a nice feeling.

We’ve come a long way inland from the bay at Shibaura. The final shot shows a peaceful urban landscape that looks like Tokyo waterfront.

So, despite my inexperience, I enjoyed taking photos with the Leica Monochrome. I’m starting to understand a little about the nuances of the camera’s detailed, wide dynamic range, and its ability to capture (or at least make it feel like it’s capturing) the details in dark areas. From now on, I’d like to find opportunities to take photos in different situations, such as in the morning or evening, when the rain makes the road surface shine, or in dark back alleys, and try out different ways of enjoying photography.

Also, I’ve become quite used to the G9PROII and it’s starting to feel like a natural extension of my hand. Now that the hot summer is over and we’re moving into autumn and winter, I think my desire to take photos is starting to grow a little.
