Let us go back through the calendar for about two weeks.
I heard a rumor that you can still take pictures of autumn roses in the early November sunshine at the Harbor View Park in Yamate, Yokohama, so I went out to check it out.
The equipment I took with me was my SLR Pentax K-3III, which hasn’t been used for a while, and three limited lenses: the HD DA15mm Limited F4, smc FA43mm Limited F1.8, and smc FA77mm Limited F1.9.
The view of Yokohama Port from the park is clear today.
At the observation plaza, international signal flags are fluttering in the blue sky. The two letters U and W on the flags are said to mean “I wish you a pleasant voyage”.
The weather was so nice that I couldn’t help but look up at the sky, but that’s right, the main reason for visiting this day was to see the autumn roses.
The unique flavor of PENTAX Limited lenses is that they softly bring out the colors and shapes of the flowers, making them stand out from the blurred background.
I think this is my favorite example. It’s a shot taken with the FA77mm lens, which I call the “Queen of Bokeh”.
No, I can’t bear to throw away this one with its floating feeling either.
Although the roses were almost at the end of their season, I was able to take some photos that I was reasonably satisfied with, and it was a happy weekend expedition to Yokohama.
It had been a while since I’d taken a walk around with my PENTAX K-3III, and I’d deliberately brought only fixed focal length lenses, so changing lenses on the way was a bit of a hassle, but I enjoyed it all the same. My main impressions were threefold. The flavor of the limited-edition lenses (especially the 77mm) is exceptional, the Hyper Program mode is really easy to use, and as usual, the AF is noisy and doesn’t always focus perfectly (lol).
Although I’ve stepped back from using PENTAX and limited-edition lenses as my main equipment, I’d like to continue using them from time to time in the future.
