Leica & Tetsu-Tabi

I visited the Leica Gallery in Ginza to see the “Leica & Tetsu-Tabi (Train Trip)” photo exhibition by Mr. Seiya Nakai.

I’ve been writing a lot about exhibitions recently, but that’s just the way the stars have aligned, so let’s not worry about it.

As a photography enthusiast with no connection to the original Leica brand, I only just found out this time that there is a Leica shop and gallery behind the Tokyu Plaza in Sukiyabashi. It has a very calm appearance.
However, the glass in front of the shop has a huge reflectance, so you can hardly see the inside of the shop (lol).

I also stopped by the shop. There was no display of the newly released full-size compact Q3 43 (1,100k yen) that I could touch, but I did get to touch the 28mm Q3 (990k yen). It was a small body with a pleasant weight, with a lot of content packed inside. When it comes to something like this, I can’t imagine it as something I would own, so it feels more like I’m touching a rare stone or something, rather than a camera.

A quiet gallery on the second floor of the shop. This was the place I was heading for.

While many of Nakai-sensei’s other “Yurutetsu” works, which he mainly takes with Sony cameras, have a lively, relaxed, and warm feel to them, this “Leica & Tetsu-Tabi” exhibition has a quieter, more peaceful feel to it (this is just my personal opinion). Maybe it felt that way because the venue was a calm and quiet environment.

I was happy to be able to get a leaflet with the exhibition works on the cover, about the size of a 2L print. As the cover is essentially the work itself, I feel a little hesitant to show it in large size, but I’ll introduce it here as a souvenir leaflet you can get.

All 17 works are wonderful, of course. Of these, I particularly liked the work of the reflection of the water in the train at Iizaka in Fukushima. It seems to be on display until December 1st.
