I went to Kofu, Yamanashi for a relative’s wedding. It takes about an hour and a half from Shinjuku by limited express train, so it is not an easy but well within a day trip range.
I didn’t have much time to take pictures, but I managed to snap a few around Kofu station. My camera and lens were my travel companion, the Lumix GF10 with G12-32mm.
As you exit the north side of Kofu station, you will see a nice park. A nice western-style house over the colored broadleaf trees.
With this amount of light, even the small GF10 can produce a pretty crisp picture.
Beyond this point, the castle gate and turrets have been built on the stone walls to recreate the Kofu Castle Town, and restaurants and stores have been built to blend in with the scenery, creating a nice sightseeing redevelopment area.
Due to the light condition, I was only able to take these two pictures on this day…
Here’s the official website to get a feel for the whole thing.
If I didn’t have a wedding party coming up, I would stop by and have a drink too. I’m a little disappointed.
A few more minutes walk from Yume Koji, and we arrived at the party venue. This is the place.
This restaurant and wedding venue appears to be owned by a local winery. The spacious grounds and open sky gave us a wonderful sense of openness that we don’t get in Tokyo.
I was treated to a delicious dinner and a thoughtful presentation, and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the modern and fun wedding ceremony and reception party. I would like to thank the bride and groom, their families, and the winery for all the preparations.
As a way of saying thank you, I would like to post a link to the winery.
Looking back at the photos I took, I see that they are the same as usual, with similar compositions and no creativity, even though we were blessed with good light and a chance to take pictures of the scenery. I guess I was a bit preoccupied with the party.
Well, it was fun and the food was delicious, so I guess it’s OK (lol). This was a short trip to Kofu.
