Friday TV Roadshow-ish

Following on from the previous issue, I would like to upload some photos from my visit to Chiba.

Actually, I got stuck in a accidental terrible traffic jam and it was already late afternoon when we arrived at the Dreaming Place Rose Garden last time. We had to give up some of the stops we had planned after that and go straight to our lodgings for the day.

So, as a camera enthusiast who wanted to take pictures of this and that on a sunny holiday, I had to give up most of my plans, much to my chagrin.

With the little time I had left, I wondered if I could find a photo subject that I would enjoy….
I stopped the car at a random place and went out to the beach on a whim and took this picture.

The beach at sunset. A fishing boat in the setting sun.

More sky burning and reddening the evening view of the embankment and fishermen.

This is still not quite enough.
Is there anything else to take pictures of?

The sun was finally setting, just as it was about to set in the shadow of the cape’s mountains,
Here it is, an evening view of the beach.
The “path of light” is beautiful, but if you silhouette the shadows the surrounding scenery is too black. In other words, the angle of view is a little too wide.

So I switched to a telephoto lens to capture the last of the sunset. The reflection of the sea surface and the silhouettes look like a “Friday TV Road Show” (only those who know what they are talking about!).

This is not bad, and as a perpetual beginner, I got a little handle on it.
Not bad, but I would have liked to see a little more “story” in the silhouette of the figures. Also, is the dark, sunken shore in the background okay?

I composed the image vertically and put the sun in the angle of view just before sunset, and waited for the moment when I could capture the silhouette of the girl alone.

This one made a lot of sense to me, and is probably the best photo of the day in my opinion.
If I had to give it a title, what would it be? “Sunset on the beach” would be flat. I think “Evening Scene in Memory” would be too pretentious.

Here is another photo to compare and contrast. The sun is completely in the frame, so it is not a good photo, but I thought it was interesting that the silhouettes of the father and daughter or grandson give a different “story” to the picture.

One last shot, over the shia, of the setting sun falling on the edge of the mountain, and the sky in a deep red.

I thought later that it would have been better if I had retreated further to make the sky wider and the arbor smaller, or even better if a seabird had flown in the sky, but that’s exactly what I did.

I was in a hurry to make the most of the little time I had before sunset, so I forced myself to take this picture of the beach, but I enjoyed it and it was a very intense 30 minutes for me.
