“Solo excursion” to Yokohama -Kishamichi promenade-

So we decided to leave the pier and walk around the Elephant’s nose Park.
For the origin of the park’s name and explanation, please visit site below.

横浜港 象の鼻地区(象の鼻パーク)

This is the view from the “base” of ZOU-NO-HANA (Elephant’s Nose) looking northwest.

The shape of the “nose” is subtle when viewed from eye level walking on the ground, but even so, the view of the old harbor from the red brick warehouse and “Minato-Mirai” skyline is certainly very pleasing.

The “Queen’s Tower” of Yokohama Customs over a moored boat. The light condition is so good to make it stand out, and as a snapshot-taking guy, I am very happy with the result.

BLUE YOKOHAMA is an ivy-covered general merchandise store that stands facing the Elephant’s nose Park. Many people stop to take pictures, so there must be something about its appearance that grabs everyone’s attention.
I am one of the people who always take pictures here.

Instead of stopping at the Red Brick Warehouse, which is undergoing renovation , we walked through the central plaza where the colors were changing toward the Bankoku Bridge and the Kishamichi promenade.

Electric kickboards, probably for rent, lined up at the entrance of the promenade. I am not familiar with the circumstances of these tools, but I guess they are treated like motorized vehicles because each has a license plate. Like you can’t ride them or rent them without a license?
The Yokohama Air Cabin, which opened in April 2021, runs parallel to and above the Kishamichi, as seen in a glimpse in the photo above.

One way from here to Sakuragicho is ¥1,000. If you enjoy the view from high up, I wouldn’t mind taking a ride at least once. However, this area is worth walking around, so I don’t think I’ll take a round trip….

I wonder if there are many people who think the same way as I do, that “downhill” from Sakuragi-cho is a good idea.  The photo shows the gondola coming from the back to the front from Sakuragicho had quite a few passengers, but the gondola going “up” in the opposite direction was almost empty.

The train route is exceptionally beautiful in spring when the flowers are in full bloom, but the calm scenery in autumn is also quite picturesque.

While there is no disputing that the star of the season is the gorgeous yellow of the ginkgo trees and the glossy crimson of the maple trees, I also love the subdued yellow-brown and red-brown of the cherry trees.

I took a few snapshots and weaved my way through the Kishamichi promenade to Sakuragicho.
It was almost lunchtime for my “solo excursion”. After much deliberation, I decided to go back to Chinatown and have lunch there, as I thought it would be a good idea for a tourist who comes to Yokohama only occasionally.

So, next time, I will return to Chinatown and Yamashita Park for another walk.
