Tadami line photo walk -1: The 1st bridge

I am a permanent beginner photographer who was impressed by the movie
”Railway in the mist: A man who takes pics of Tadami Line for 300 days”.
So I took a vacation to Oku-Aizu and took pictures along the Tadami Line for 3 days without any skill or knowledge of the line. So to speak,

Man who takes pics of Tadami Line for only 3 days.

I will start with a series of poor sentences and photos from this time onward, so please forgive me for the inconvenience.

If you are wondering what the Tadami Line is, please read here first. If you are wondering what the Tadami Line is, you might want to read this first.

The first picture of “I have been there” must be a picture of the 1st bridge. Here it is.

I took this photo of around 7AM Aizu Kawaguchi bound train from the so-called “landing point” on the north side of the 1st bridge. The misty river mist that is a typical feature of this area did not appear on this day, but the mountain mist was not too bad, and the light rain stopped at just the right time to create a water mirror, so I was able to take a picture with a good atmosphere.
As a “3 days shooter” with limited photo opportunities, I was probably one of the lucky ones.

On the mountain ridge on the other side of the bridge, there is a more major photography spot, “The 1st Bridge Viewpoint” but it may have been white out in the deep fog at that time on that day. I talked with a senior photographer from Shizuoka who was there about how glad we were to turn to this landing point. We chatted for about 30 minutes to avoid bears, and he gave me some information on Tadami Line shooting spots, which was very helpful.

This landing point was told to be difficult to access by car because you have to find a narrow farm road coming in from the village of Hinohara. Due to the rain, I could not take pictures of the area with my sub-camera, but I have some pictures taken in reverse from the top of the first bridge after riding the Tadami Line that afternoon, so I’ll include them along with the pictures.

You can see the landing point at the end of the shore on the right, where the trees are a bit broken off (just a common name in the shooting area, I don’t think boats actually land there).

The “The 1st Bridge Viewpoint,” which I avoided, had actually already been visited the previous afternoon. Although the conditions were not particularly noteworthy from a photographic point of view, I took a commemorative shot.

I was hoping for a blue sky in the early afternoon, but unfortunately, it was cloudy. The surface of the Tadami River was also wavy, so there was no water mirror. Even so, the view was spectacular enough to be worth seeing, so we should not be extravagant.

This place is supposed to be a view point which can be easily climbed up in a few minutes on foot from Oze Kaido Mishima-juku Roadside Station. However, my first time up there, I found it to be quite a strenuous climb up the stairs. I was carrying a set of photographic equipment on my back, but my breath was coming in short gasps and my thighs were screaming. I have to be as physically fit as anyone else to be able to take pictures.

I took some photos of the viewpoints with my Lumix GF10, which I brought as a sub-camera.

The Tadamigawa River valley and the Saijiki Bridge as seen from the parking lot of the roadside station. If you don’t know the above viewpoints, this would be enough to overwhelm you with the spectacular view.

So, I’d like to continue to record my walking and photographing around Tadami Line for some time to come. Next time, I will show you the 2nd bridge photo.

Equipment used this time: K-3III, smc DA*50-135mm, GF10, LUMIX G12-32mm
