I went on a photo walk along the Kominato Railway line in Chiba. This local private railway runs just over 39 km from Goi in the Uchibo region into the mountains to Kazusa-Nakano. Among rail enthusiasts who appreciate nostalgic railway scenery—such as the tranquil countryside and rural mountain landscapes it traverses—it is an extremely famous route.

I transferred from the JR Uchibo Line at Goi Station and rode the diesel train for about 10 minutes before getting off at Kazusa-Mitsumata Station.
This is the area where the scenery begins to shift from suburban residential areas to farmland. I watched the two-car train I had ridden on pull away.
A blue sky spreads out above the small station building. It has a slightly hazy, spring-like hue.
My gear for the day consisted of the LUMIX G9 Pro II and the Leica DG 12-60mm F2.8-4. Since I was pretending to be a train photographer for the first time in a while, I also brought along the Leica DG 50-200mm F2.8-4 telephoto lens, though it hasn’t had a chance to see action at this station yet.
It was a very small, unmanned station, and for the few dozen minutes before the next downbound train arrived, I enjoyed simply “doing nothing and staying in silence” without any particular subject in mind. It was a great start to my day trip.
And eventually, the train I was waiting for arrived—a single car.
From here on out is the main event of the photo shoot to capture the feast of cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers in full bloom.
For the time being, I plan to fill the blog with posts using the photos from this day, so I’ll wrap things up here for now as a prologue.
