Mid-January at Jindai Botanical Garden. I missed my target of winter jasmine, but unexpectedly encountered a subject in the rose garden—an unexpected turn of events.
Before heading back, I stopped by the large greenhouse to admire the water lilies. What a luxury to enjoy summer flowers in this season.
Without the 200mm telephoto reach, I wouldn’t have been able to capture this photo with the S1IIE. I’m glad I went ahead and got the SIGMA 20-200mm last fall, even though I hesitated. I’m grateful for its versatility.
A water lily illuminated by a chance spotlight. Truly beautiful.
The crystal-clear image quality unique to SIGMA lenses gave me great satisfaction.
Oh yes, in the large greenhouse, begonias were displayed in the room next to the water lilies. I’ll include just one photo of the most vibrant-looking flower.
The fact that we can enjoy these tropical flowers in the dead of winter in Tokyo is all thanks to the botanical garden’s excellent work. I can’t express enough gratitude. While I feel a bit guilty about the small admission fee, I suppose you could say it’s a small way to recoup some of the not-insignificant resident tax we pay.
That’s all from the scene.
